sprung.
A Poem
sprung.
Nature’s great yawn and stretch
As the browns of cold morph
To the lush greens of warmth-to-come
Readiness flittering within them
Hard earth underfoot gives way
To tiny little blades of life
Things with purpose crack
The carapace of yestermonths
Icy lattices soften (at their leisure) -
Snow, dirt, hearts, dreams
Burrowed treasures peeking through
What’s to come starts becoming
Dusty downy heavy wool
A lifeline of utmost necessity
Makes way for bare arms
And the airy easiness of possibility
As birdsong swells the canopy
Hearts swell with ‘what’s next?’
Picnics and kites and daydreams
An al fresco life (finally)
Calls for renewal answered
A full-throated whole-bodied yes
As our nature declares in delight -
Spring hath finally sprung.

I'm so excited about your poetic forays!! Yaaayyy!! More, more!
